Rural Representation & Bridging the Urban-Rural Divide 

I have written that rural voters are now the largest underrepresented group in politics, and I will advocate for policies that address rural communities’ interests. There are virtually no advocacy groups or non-profits that specifically advocate for rural voters in the Upper Midwest with roots in Homesteading.

The Upper Midwest is not the Rural South 

National and urban-centered advocacy groups focus too often on the Rural South, which couldn't be more different from the Upper Midwest, where the swing states reside. Advocacy groups and special interests focus heavily on the Rural South. None of the national Democratic groups has a single person from the Upper Midwest homesteaded states on their staff. I will focus on issues that actual voters raise, not those raised by urban advocacy groups. My issues revolve around agriculture, defense, getting common sense back into education, economic resilience, and reducing excess regulation that is thwarting family-owned and small businesses.

Translating Experience as a Farmer and Corporate Executive & Attorney to Policy Engagement

My background, growing up on a family farm, living overseas, later practicing law, working as a corporate executive at a Fortune 500 company, serving as a foster home and adoptive parent, and then returning to the farm, shapes my emphasis on bringing real-world rural experience into political conversations and advocating for rural perspectives in both political parties.
